Anyone know of a shotgun friendly range that does not require membership? Does Sam's in Everett allow shotgun use for non-members? I want to go out this weekend with my son-in-law and bring the shotgun.
Want to point out also that I'd like the shotgun use to be for self-defense practice.. Close range. Not clay targets or 100 yards, etc.

http://tacomassportsmensclub.com/ might be worth contacting. I know they have shotgun hours. I am not sure if you need to be a member or not. I have gone there a couple times to shoot pistols & rifles (and it's pretty cheap too) but i've never done shotguns there so I don't know, unfortunately.

Arlington Regional Range is good with shotguns too. On NE 172nd just west of Highway 9 near Arlington. $10 for a shooting lane and no steel shot.

Gregma, when we were at Sam's, there were two young men with a shotgun they had just bought; a Remington. I highly doubt either of them were members and I'm pretty sure you don't have to be a member there to shoot a shotgun or low-powered rifle (like a .22LR).

I remember them Just_a_car, but I thought we were on the "members only" side of the range, so thought they were members. I take it that there is no "members only" portion of the range?

That's correct. Bay 1 is for "higher-powered" firearms while Bay 2 is for "lower-powered" firearms. Bay 1 has a berm of shredded tires in addition to the ramp; Bay 2 only has a steel ramp.

I wonder why they put the shotgun in the "high-powered" firearm bay. I've never really considered a shotgun that high powered.

Only reason I can see them putting them there. But when the pistol bay is full, the rangemaster puts people on the rifle bay, but not the other way around.

Everytime I go I'm in Bay1. Either I'm with my buddy and his 44 Mag. or it is busy and mostly everyone in there is shooting standard handgun cal.
